The Transitional Program of Coastal Jail Ministries
is now CHATHAM TRANSITIONAL MINISTRIES
I’ve been clean and sober since the day I went to jail, and now I have a relationship with my family. I have a wonderful new life. Boy, you talk about a future and a new hope; I praise God for saving me and turning my life around.
Years ago, I read a book titled More God, Less Crime. In a review of all recidivism studies in the United States, the author concluded that recidivism rates only drop when inmates are exposed to regular Christian programming while in jail, followed by at least two years of transition wherein Biblical instruction and employment are provided. This book became the origin of what is now Chatham Transitional Ministries. I can say with certainty there is no other program like it. As you can see, former inmates take control of their lives and participate in their families, jobs, and communities as contributors and leaders. I have been overwhelmed by God’s grace and power by, in, and through the victory Christ has to offer to all.
